TRAVELING TO LEH AND LADAKH – WHERE TO GO AND WHEN TO COME

One of the most beautiful places you would ever visit are the stunning landscapes of Leh and Ladakh. Great weather, warm people and a uniquely beautiful side of the Himalayas is what makes this region very special.

You could choose to go on a trek and explore the Himalayan mountains in this region or you could choose to visit the stunning monasteries.  The region also has some of the most beautiful lakes you will ever see.

Located in the northernmost state of Kashmir, the terrain and the weather means that Leh and Ladakh can only be visited by road from Mid-May till the end of September.

There are two ways of getting to Leh by Road one is via Manali and the other via Srinagar. We almost always recommend going through the Manali way not only is it a prettier journey but also since Kashmir is a volatile state it’s much safer than Srinagar.

    July 2017,

We are just back from a completely wonderful 2 week trip to India, organised by Abbas of India Someday. We travelled from Bangalore to Mumbai, then to Udaipur, Jodhpur, Jaipur, Agra and Delhi staying at a mixture of totally beautiful luxury hotels and more simple homestays. India Someday was recommended to me so I was confident from the outset at the level of service we would receive. Organisation of the trip was made exceptionally simple despite the fact that we were a group with members coming and going at various points on the tour. Abbas really took time to understand the sort of tour that we wanted and he provided good advice about what would and wouldn’t be worthwhile tours and activities given the monsoon weather.

At one point on the tour we had to change our plans unexpectedly, and at short notice. Within a matter of hours from receiving our phone call, Abbas had rebooked flights and hotel bookings for us and so our holiday could continue with no trouble at all.

One of the most significant aspects of our tour that I enjoyed was our encounter with our drivers and guides that we met on our tour. Each driver had been arranged for us by India Someday and all were courteous, professional and expert in navigating the range of obstacles on the motorway and roads. They in turn offered to arrange for guides to escort us at particular sites, and these people were so knowledgeable, friendly and expert at helping us to relax and feel safe.

I think that India is quite a challenging country in which to be a ‘newbie’ tourist. There is absolutely no doubt that we had a far better time than we would have had we tried to organise our visit ourselves. India Someday is indeed worthy of the title ‘best travel agency’ and they helped us to make the best of 2 weeks of precious annual leave!

Massive thanks to Abbas and the team – we’ll be back again.

    August, 2018

I didn’t want to travel alone for my first time in Asia, and my first trip in India. I found the « India Someday Group Tour » for backpackers which was fitting perfectly my needs. And what memories… I had the chance to travel two weeks in August 2015 all along Rajasthan with Chiara, an Italian traveler who was on holidays like me and we were accompanied by Abbas and Ojas from India Someday. These guys are simply the bests. It was so pleasant to getting to know them, to meet theirs friends and families on our path. This is the kind of travel experience that I was looking for, far from « the touristic way » and mainstream big travel agencies.

I kept so many good memories… The cooking lesson with Shashi in Udaipur, the sunrise in Pushkar after a short hike, the slum tour in Mumbaiand all the dinners and lunchs with all the guys. Special mention to Chandra Niwas, our guesthouse in Udaipur. I felt like at home in his house. Samvit the owner, who has also a foundation is such a passionate guy. It was really interesting to know more about the Educative System in India.

Everything was greatly organized before and during the roadtrip. I had a first contact with Camille by Skype, who is responsible for the French travelers. I asked her a lot of questions and she has been very helpful and comforting. Then before the trip I kept contact with Abbas and Ojas who have been very accommodating, super professional and friendly.

I secretly left my heart in India with all these guys. I would like to thank you again guys for these moments. I will prepare my round 2 with you in India very soon!!
