For Tom and Amy’s first trip to India, they chose to tour Kerala and Tamil Nadu in South India. South India is very rich in culture, history and architecture. Kerala and Tamil Nadu are also blessed with beautiful beaches, backwaters and tea plantations.
Here’s what Amy had to say about her trip : “By working with India Someday on our itinerary we arrived in India with a perfectly put together plan which we then executed independently, making the most of every second we had!”
They preferred traveling to two states in the South(parts of Kerala and Tamil Nadu). In Tamil Nadu, Tom and Amy wanted to visit Pondicherry (a former French colony). They also visited Tanjore a city renowned for architecture and Madurai which is also the cultural capital of South India.
Tom and Amy also wanted to spend a part of their trip exploring the beautiful state of Kerala and spend some time among the tea plantations of Munnar, the backwaters of Kumarakaom and the beautiful town of Kochi.
Stephanie traveled India to experience its spirituality. So she chose to go on spiritual trip that covered some of India’s most religious places . It encompassed Sikhism, Buddhism and Hinduism all rolled into one trip. In her two weeks across India she visited four cities. From the fields of Punjab, to the Himalayas, the chaos of Delhi and Varanasi.
She started her trip at Delhi and then visited Dharamshala. Apart from being home to the Dalai Lama Mcleoadganj is also popular for being a peaceful town to relax in. You can go on a lot of interesting short treks (eg: trek to triund) from here and hang out in the quaint village of dharampur.
Taking a chauffeur driven car or local bus to Amritsar Stephanie got to enjoy some of the best food in India and visit the beautiful and calming ambiance of the Golden Temple; the most important site in Sikhism. Amritsar is also known for its border ceremony with Pakistan
Next she travelled to Rishikesh, the Yoga capital of the world. With adventure activities like Rafting and bungy jumping, or chilled and lastly Varanasi, one of the oldest cities in civilization and probably the best example of co-existence in the country.
This route is ideal for travelers wanting to spend time in North India. It has Rishikesh and Dharamshala if you’re looking for serenity. If it’s architectural wonders you seek, the Golden Temple will fulfill you. And if you’re looking for an intense cultural experience, then Varanasi will be your favorite.
In terms of travel Stephanie used a combination of internal flights, train rides, a few local buses and a chauffeur driven car as well.
