Ana's Sri Lanka - Adventure Trip

Hey guys, you ask, I deliver — hehe!! The past 8 months travelling solo have been an absolute blessing but I’m so happy to explore travelling with people from my community and I can’t wait to meet as many of you as possible. Sooo, who wants to come hang and explore Sri Lanka with me? I’ve never been myself, so we get to discover it for the first time together! Can’t wait to meet you!!

Day 1: Colombo

Activity: Arrival Transfers and Evening Walking Tour

This Sri Lankan capital is the perfect blend of tradition & modernization. It’s Fort area is home to colonial architecture, while Pettah is the commercial hub, lined with local markets, radiating the perfect Asian vibe. Colombo, with it’s gorgeous coastline, local eateries, art galleries, temples & museums, is a city you ought to visit.

Day 1 – As and when you arrive we’ll arrange for Transfers from the Airport to the Accommodation. In the evening we’ll be going on a Walking Tour and explore Colombo and get acquainted with each other.

Day 2 - 3: Sigiriya

Transport: Drive to Sigiriya

Activity: Hike to Pidurangala View Point and Lion's Rock

The ancient rock fortress of Sri Lanka is a sheer gem. Fascinating & mysterious, the fortress reveals its beauty as you go higher. Its history, architecture & gorgeous view, make the climb worth it. Commence your climb in time for sunrise to escape the crowds. It also makes for an ideal base to take day trips around the cultural triangle.

Day 2 – After Breakfast we Drive Colombo – Sigiriya. After checking in we do a short hike to Pidurangala View Point for stunning sunset view and a view to the famed Lion’s Rock which we are going to Hike up on the next day.

Day 3 – Morning we make the short drive to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Sigiriya for your first activity – a hike up the 1200 steps of the famed Lion Rock. This ancient carved-rock fortress rises dramatically above the surrounding plains, elevating Sigiriya high into the air. On the way you’ll visit the water and boulder gardens, frescoes and the mirror wall. The next section of the climb takes about half an hour along steep walkways and steps all the way up to the rocky plateau, which soars 200 m above the jungle. From here, the views over the surrounding area and the nearby Pidurangala Rock are jaw-dropping. Later we’ll do an Afternoon Safari in Minneriya National Park.

 

Day 4 : Kandy

Transport: Drive to Kandy

Activity: Visit to Dambulla

Surrounded by emerald hills, there’s plenty you can do in Kandy.

Day 4 – After Breakfast we’ll drive to Kandy and our adventures start on your way there as we’ll stop to visit the Cave Temples at Dambulla. Once in Kandy, take a stroll through the Royal Botanical Gardens, tour one of the many spice gardens, visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and/or spend time roaming around the local marketplace & City Center and unwind with a walk down the picturesque Kandy Lake.

Day 5: Nuwara Eliya

Transport: Drive and a Scenic Train Ride from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya

Activity: Scenic Train Ride

Often referred to as “Little England”, Nuwara Eliya is like an entirely different world, nestled in the mountains, 1800m above sea level. Quaint colonial buildings, tea plantations, scenic waterfalls & foggy mountains will never want to make you leave.

Day 5 – We’ll drive to Kandy Railway station and then head over to experience one of the most scenic train rides to Nuwara Eliya. Once we reach Nuwara Eliya we will be dropped to our accomodation and will have the rest of the day at leisure to explore this quaint little town on our own by visiting the breathtaking Lovers Leap waterfall & Glen falls. We can also choose to head to the Gregory lake for some fishing, rowing, jet skiing or simply relaxing in a paddle boat (Optional). Stroll amidst the tea plantations, and tour the tea estate & tea factory at one of the many tea estates like Pedro Tea Estate or Mackwoods (Optional).

Day 6-7: Ella

Transport: Drive to Ella

Activity: Visit Hortons Plains and Hike to World's End

Ella is a quaint town, hem adorned with lush green tea plantations. Mountain hikes, cascading waterfalls and a pleasant weather, perfect to soothe your soul.

Day 6 – We’ll get an early Breakfast and visit Horton’s Plains on our way to Ella and Hike up to the World’s End. After the Hike we drive to Ella and relax in our accommodation and explore Ella on our own – Roam the town for some exciting food, cheap alcohol and live music.

Day 7 – Nature’s paradise naturally warrants for some natural excursions. Set out to trek Ella Rock or Little Adam’s Peak (Optional) and witness a sunrise from either destination. Take a detour on the way back to visit the famous Nine Arch Bridge (Optional). You can also take a tour of the Halpewatte Tea factory (Optional) or embark on a short train ride (Optional) to explore Lipton’s vast tea empire in Haputale. We have a Cooking Class in the evening where we’ll learn how to make our own Sri Lankan meal and devour it!

Day 8-10: Weligama

Hotel Name: The Green Rooms Surf Camp MAPAI (Or Similar)

Transport: Drive to Weligama

Activity: Surfing

Weligama is an ironic blend of chaos and calm. Home to several beaches, it is ideal for fishing & whale watching. Lined with shacks that serve delicious food and welcoming locals, it makes for a memorable experience. The turquoise waters are ideal for watersports activities like surfing and diving alongside golden sand beaches to simply relax.

Day 8 to 10 – We’ll have breakfast and drive to Weligama — Weligama has a great surf stretch and that’s exactly our main attraction here, we’ll be staying at a Surf Camp and be travelling to and from Surf spots for Surf Sessions, it doesn’t matter if you’re a seasoned surfer, a beginner or intermediate trying to upgrade your skills. With a relaxing vibe and a great surf stretch we can also go Whale Watching (Optional) or even take a Cycle Ride (Optional) through the lush rural land around Weligama. One of the days we can take a 30 minute drive to see the UNESCO Galle Fort (Optional).

Day 11: Colombo

Activity: Flight Home

Day 11 – After our last Surf session and breakfast we bid adieu. We drive to Colombo Airport for our onwards journey with tons of memories of fun times!
