The best time to visit Udaipur is during the winter season, but the other seasons have their own charm. Udaipur, the city of lakes, is one of the most beautiful cities in Rajasthan. With a rich culture and vibrant heritage, the city has much to offer to visitors. From historical monuments and majestic havelis to pristine lakes and verdant landscapes, you will want to come back to Udaipur again and again. Read on to find out the best time to visit Udaipur.
Winter season in Udaipur (October to February)
Winters in Udaipur are cool and pleasant. With the temperatures hovering between 11 and 28 degrees Celsius, the climate is perfect for sightseeing and exploring. Udaipur is a treasure trove of culture, heritage, and history.
There is so much to see in this city of lakes – Lake Pichola, Lake Dudhtalai, Lake Fatehsagar, Kumbhalgarh Fort, Sajjangarh Fort, and the City Palace. There are many vibrant markets around the city as well as local delicacies to try out.
It is also a good time to indulge in outdoor activities such as trekking, boating, camel rides, and more. Many festivals, such as Dussehra and Diwali, as well as events like the Udaipur World Music Festival and Kumbhalgarh Festival take place in winter. The winter season is the perfect time to explore all these activities.

Summer season in Udaipur (March to June)
The summer season in Udaipur is hot like most of Rajasthan. Temperatures often exceed 40 degrees Celsius, and the climate is scorching hot and dry. It is not a pleasant time for sightseeing in the city, and naturally, it is an off-season for tourism here.
We do not recommend summers for Udaipur, but if you do visit, there are a few upsides as well. For one, you can enjoy a luxury staycation in one of the majestic palaces, forts, or havelis that have been converted into hotels. You can get lower rates for accommodations and tickets, since not a lot of tourists travel here during this period. The crowds are less at major tourist attractions. Festivals such as Holi, the Gangaur Festival and Mewar Festival are also celebrated in this season.
Make sure to wear light, breathable clothes and carry a hat or a cap and sunglasses. Apply plenty of sunscreen and stay hydrated throughout the day. Try to stay indoors as much as possible and go out exploring in the evenings.
Monsoon season in Udaipur (July to September)
The monsoon season in Udaipur comes as a relief from the intense heat of the summer. Temperatures remain between 25 and 35 degrees Celsius, and the climate is cool but quite humid. The landscape turns lush green and it is a magical time to be in Udaipur.
It is not a peak season for tourism, as the rain can put a damper on many activities. However, it doesn’t rain as heavily in Udaipur as many other parts of the country. So, if you don’t mind some rain, monsoon is one of the best times to visit Udaipur.
The costs of accommodation are low due to the off-season, so it is a great choice for budget travelers.
Make sure to carry umbrellas, raincoats, and appropriate footwear. Keep extra clothes handy, since wet clothes won’t dry quickly. Keep your gadgets safe, and try to stay dry in order to avoid a cold that can disrupt the rest of your vacation!
