Wow ! Amazing Experience- Denwa is a stunning experience. Luxury snuggling inside pristine forests. Every room with a magical view of the Denwa backwaters. We stayed 5 days from 11-15 March 20. Every moment was precious. The attention to sustainable tourism and responsible luxury is commendable. The Rooms, the impeccable style, the lovely amenities (especially the unlimited gourmet French press coffee in each room),the delectable food, evening drinks and forest tales.... its a romantic idyll. The team at Denwa is amazing- They truly believe in treating you as their guests. No request is too small. With at least one safari a year, we've done the rounds and the Satpura jungle was a pleasant discovery. It is definitely among the best forests in India. Due to its limited access it is very easy to get Park tickets at Satpura compared to Kanha,Bandhavgarh, Tadobo and other popular ones. Don't go for Tigers, just focus on the comprehensive experience, the unique flora and tiny little details in the complex ecosystem of jungles, hills, backwaters and rivers. Denwa's naturalists and the park guides tell great stories and show you amazing details if you keep the focus away from Tigers. The bird life is very rich rich and diverse. I could sight at least 15 species lying in bed thru the panoramic window facing the backwaters. Had the pleasure of seeing flocks of Siberial Bar Headed Geese and varieties of Hornbills. We had Wild Boar, Deer visting the property as well. Since forest is very dense, people tend to see lesser tigers and hence it is safe from "Tiger Tourists" which is a relief for genuine nature lovers. The property is 4 hrs drive from Bhopal and do make it a point to see the Bhimbhetka Cave paintings, arguably the oldest human art in the world if you can make an hour enroute . Sanchi is also just 50 km from Bhopal so well worth a visit there as well. In short, go there - Its an investment for unforegettable memories and a year's stock of endorphins
Stunning property I was very impressed with this small and personable hotel. Travelling from Itarsi it takes around 1.5 hours to reach, with the last part of the journey along a dirt track. A real paradise lies within. We were met by staff at the front gate and from then onwards looked after seamlessly with welcome drinks, biscuits etc. on arrival and before and after each safari. The room itself was very tastefully furnished with dark wood furnishings and comfortable beds. The bathroom was massive with fresh air flowing through it and lovely toiletries in reusable bottles. Filter water is provided in the rooms and the restaurant to avoid plastic use. The food was also excellent - there is no menu, but everything is freshly prepared and plentiful and each dish is served to you by the waiter. It's a joy to eat on the balcony looking out over the lake. One of the happiest memories from my entire trip was sitting by a log fire near the pool in the evening watching a nature documentary, nibbling appetisers and gazing up at the stars. Rooms are quite spread out so it feels very private and the pathways around the hotel are beautifully lit up by lamps in the evening. We took two safaris with the hotel with a pleasant resident naturalist (although a government guide also joins your vehicle). Thanks to Ram for answering all of my questions so helpfully at the booking stage.
Insanely good service We had a few nights here in March 2020 just before the virus broke out in India. We were there both for jeep safari's and two nights camping organised by Pugdundee and Mysteries of India. The camping trip was fantastic, the staff set everything up so the camp was ready to go when we arrived after a half day walk. Service was exceptional and the quality of the food served at camp was easily as good as that in the lodge. The lodge itself was excellent, very comfortable room, great food, superb staff. Worth a visit even if you don't do the jeep safaris
Fantastic location with beautiful accommodation which have great views and lots of space. Modern design. We spent 5 nights here and it was the best part of our holiday. Brilliant set up with enthusiastic staff across the board. We were particularly impressed with the guide - Mugdha. Good ethical philosophy throughout. Food was great and the staff lovely. We will definately return.
An Absolute Gem Everything was perfect during our stay at Satpura. The lodge has no plastic on site, the rooms are spotless and frequently cleaned. We drank the purified water with no ill effects and all the food was delicious. The surroundings are beautiful and you can lie on your bed or sit on your verandah looking out over bushes and trees watching the birds. The service was superb with all the staff being friendly and helpful. We had safaris in trucks, by boat and walking. We were very lucky and saw tigers on every outing even, very unusually, watching cubs eat a kill when we were on a boat .
